Randy Jacobson says "Have a good life."

Randy Jacobson was born at Elk Point. He had a good family and he grew up to respect his parents.

He went to school in Elk Point but he didn?t like school. He was bored and he wanted to work for wages. He went back to school many times.

He has two daughters and one son. He went to school in 1989 when his eldest daughter was just born.

He went back to school in 1998 for upgrading in Lac la Biche. He really enjoyed it for the two semesters that he went. He regretted quitting. Then he went to Lloydminister and took two semesters there. The counselor in Lloydminister got him looking at where he was going. That is how he got on AISH.

He has worked at construction, driven a truck, done some cooking, and security work in different places. He spent some time in Fort McMurray doing some good work there and he got on track.

When Randy?s mother and father passed away he decided to stay in St. Paul. He planned to be a personal support worker when he volunteered for a while in the Extended Care. He enjoyed it.

He got started with Positive People about two years ago. He is now the past president. Positive People sent him to Westlock for Inclusive Boards training.

Randy is working for SPAN at Habitat. They have a recycling depot, a laundry and a next to new store. He has been at the next to new store for about 3 years.

For relaxation Randy likes bowling. He likes to watch the Special Olympics. He went to a tournament in Bonnyville and came in third because he ended up being on the team of a super bowler.

Randy is happy where he is and he wants to stay there. He has a lot of good things working for him. He has a lady friend and they are going to join a golden age bowling team. He thinks it is enjoyable to be with his own age.

Randy says the most important thing is to have a good life. He has an apartment and the rent is fair. He pretty well did things for himself. He wants to tell people to get out there and earn some money on top of the disability. He says let people know you are putting money back in the system.

June 2005 Update. Randy is the winner of the Norm McLeod Community Inclusion Award!
